Don't know what to do this summer?
Need to catch up on credits?

Estrella High School is now enrolling for summer school courses.  Our fees are lower than other schools!

There are two sessions available.  First session runs from June 4 through Jun 14 and second session runs from Jun 18 through June 28.  Classes for both sessions run Monday through Thursday 8 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.

Students may only take one class per summer session, and at the end of the session they will receive .50 credit.  Students may choose to complete both summer sessions.

Transportation is available at no cost.

Please note that in order for a student to receive credit for summer school, the student may not be absent for any reason and must comply with all rules and expectations.  Refunds are not given for any reason unless  enrollment has been cancelled prior to the start of summer school.  Students who engage in any behavior that results in discipline action will be removed immediately from the summer program, and are not entitled to a refund.

For more information or to enroll into summer school, contact Estrella High School at 623-932-6562 or stop by the main office Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 7:20 p.m.

On Friday April 27, Estrella High School held its prom at the Rio Vista Recreation Center.  The theme was Hollywood Glamour and students were treated like movie stars.  Papparazzi were flashing cameras as students entered dressed in tuxes and sparkling gowns.

At about 10 p.m., Mrs. Zordani took the stage and announced the 2011-12 prom court.  Everyone cheered as the winners were sashed and crowned.  The title of prince and princess went to Armando Barraza and Christina Palomera.  Peter James and Amanda Pina were crowned king and queen.

Most of the students stayed through the night to enjoy the music and company.

It's that time again - that's right, test time.  Tomorrow, Tuesday April 10, the statewide AIMS Mathematics exam and the Stanford 10 for Freshmen will be given.  Students who have passed the AIMS Mathematics exam previously will be given a ticket to leave immediately after first period.  At that time all other students will be released to their testing locations.  All testing students will be leaving at the same time.  Unless previously discussed with an administrator, students may not be picked up early or leave campus until exams are completed schoolwide.

For some Sophomores, Wednesday April 11 will be the AIMS Science exam.  Students who are required to take this exam are notified and will be pulled out of their regular classrooms to take the exam.  All other students will be having a regular school day.

For any questions or concerns, please contact the front office at 623-932-6562.

On Saturday March 31, ASU held a New Technology Ethics Contest Event.  The event was a contest between eight schools in the Phoenix metro area.  Each school had two teams, for a total of 16 competing teams.  Estrella High School was charged with two topics:  the X-Box Kinect, and Social Media.  The project was overseen by Ms. Lieu with help from Mr. Kvidahl.

Within these topics, students had to find out how it worked, what you could do with it, and what ethical dilemmas were associated with the technology.  The students had to present their findings to a panel of judges which included former Attorney General for the State of Arizona, Terry Goddard, as well as members of the Lincoln Center Board of Directors and the Lincoln Center Professors Council.

At the event, Estrella High School was represented by two students - Brenda Luna, and Jose Martinez.  All of the participating schools did a wonderful job, and EHS had stiff competition, but in the end, Brenda and Jose won third place!

Estrella High School is extremely proud to have students such as these two, to represent the school is such a positive manner, and a special thank you goes out to the family of these students who helped in supporting this effort.

Say the title five times fast!  Estrella High School held its second Sidewalk Sale today and it was great!  People in the community came to do a little shopping and got a chance to meet teachers and staff in the process.  We will definitely be looking at continuing this event, so keep an eye out.  If you have anything at home you'd like to donate for the next sale, see Ms. Alston.

All proceeds from the sale are used to purchase supplies for students.
