Estrella High School Sidewinders played the homecoming game against Desert Hills on Thursday, September 22 at the Glendale Youth Sports Complex. The game was a nail-biter, but in the end Estrella won 44-32.
Desert Hills gave us the opportunity for some interceptions and turnovers, which helped push the game to our favor. The night's win was another positive notch that all but erased the close loss against West Phoenix the game before.
As always, the stands were filled with parents, students, and faculty enthusiastically cheering and encouraging the team. Thanks to Coach Maynard and the EHS Sidewinders for playing hard and making us proud!
On Friday August 26, the Sidewinders played at NFL Yet in the first game of the season. The boys clawed a 26-20 victory, and while it was not a blowout game, the team worked well together under the leadership of Coach Maynard. Mrs. Zordani, several teachers, and many supportive parents and students attended the game. Mrs. Osterberg and her new cheerleading squad were also on hand to provide some team spirit to the crowd.
The boys returned to school Monday excited about the win, and ready for the next games ahead. This victory is but one of many, but it was definitely a good start to the season! Join us this coming Friday as we challenge Peoria Accelerated High School!
