On Friday August 24, the Sidewinders met Summit High School on the field for the first football game of the season. And what a first game it was! Sidewinders won with a 30 point lead ending the game at 36 - 6. Teachers and staff came from a day long meeting to see the team play at home field.
The season just started but if this is any indicator, we should be looking forward to a great year! Congratulations, Sidewinders on your first win!

On Saturday March 31, ASU held a New Technology Ethics Contest Event. The event was a contest between eight schools in the Phoenix metro area. Each school had two teams, for a total of 16 competing teams. Estrella High School was charged with two topics: the X-Box Kinect, and Social Media. The project was overseen by Ms. Lieu with help from Mr. Kvidahl.
Within these topics, students had to find out how it worked, what you could do with it, and what ethical dilemmas were associated with the technology. The students had to present their findings to a panel of judges which included former Attorney General for the State of Arizona, Terry Goddard, as well as members of the Lincoln Center Board of Directors and the Lincoln Center Professors Council. At the event, Estrella High School was represented by two students - Brenda Luna, and Jose Martinez. All of the participating schools did a wonderful job, and EHS had stiff competition, but in the end, Brenda and Jose won third place! Estrella High School is extremely proud to have students such as these two, to represent the school is such a positive manner, and a special thank you goes out to the family of these students who helped in supporting this effort. |
